Ezra and Mommy go to San Diego

Last weekend Ezra and I flew off to San Diego for a Labor Day mini-break. We stayed at a resort on Mission Beach courtesy of my lovely sister and her family. We were able to enjoy the sun, the zoo, Sea World, and downtown in a few short days. Sadly Hurricane Issac derailed my sister's arrival so we didn't get to spend much time with them but at least the cousins got to have some fun times together. Ezra's "first" time in a plane. (I don't think the trip from Ethiopia at 7 months reall counts):

Look at all the "builders" Mom! - buildings

Ezra and I with a view of the bay.

Enjoying the cold water on the beach.

At the San Diego Zoo we came across this lovely little guy.  I had never seen an animal like this before.  Apparently they live in Asia.  I have no idea why they have tusks on the tops of their noses and they have no hair!

Who knew they had vipers in Ethiopia??

Ezra loved riding the sky cab across the zoo.  I was worried about how he'd do with the height but he loved it.

One of the most remarkable things about the zoo was all the plant life.  They have over 700,000 different plants on the property!

Ezra loved the petting zoo.  When we got home and asked him what his favorite animal was said, "the goat."

Off to more adventures!

Cool cousin Maddox and his 80's sunglasses :)

Sea World here we come!

Ezra's reaction after seeing Shamu for the first time!

There he is!

Hanging out at the hotel.

Maddox and Uncle Stefan

We also stopped by the "Festival of Sail" at the Maritime Museum.  There were tons of ships that came in just for this event that you could tour.

Captain Ezra - the friendliest pirate on the seas.

At the helm of an old U.S Submarine:

In front of the largest ship there - The Star of India:

We then visited this U.S Aircraft Carrier- The Midway:

Before we got there though I saw this Nacho Libre cape with a mask and had to have it for Ezra.  He LOVES Nacho.  Only $10.00!!!

He pretty much lives in this outfit now.

On the Midway there are aircraft simulators and lots of planes and cockpits, etc. for the kids to play in and there are tons of photo ops like this one of Ezra sitting in an ejection seat.

He also kept trying to pick up the planes... hmmm... maybe all this super hero stuff has gone to his head.

The pilot and co-pilot consulting on their next move:

When Ezra climbed into this helicopter he strapped himself in and said, "is this going to take us back to our room?"  I then had to inform him that we weren't flying anywhere, that it was just for play.

Love the San Diego zoo. We haven't been since the mid-nineties, when my first batch of kids were little tykes! The picture of you and Ezra is a great photo! And I love that you took a picture of the info on the ET snake. All of my littles are terrified of snakes and we have quite a few around here... all harmless of course, but clearly not the same as the ones they were warned about in ET! Also... My 23 year old son would probably fight Ezra for the Nacho wear!
